✅ Why use PRP for TMJ problems?
TMJ disorders can cause pain, clicking, popping, stiffness, and difficulty opening your mouth. Causes might include joint inflammation, arthritis, or disc problems. PRP is being explored as a treatment because it may help:

  • Reduce inflammation and pain

  • Promote tissue healing and regeneration

  • Improve joint lubrication

  • Possibly avoid surgery or reduce medication use

✅ How is PRP for TMJ done?

  • Blood is drawn from your arm.

  • It’s spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma.

  • A dentist, oral surgeon, or trained medical professional injects the PRP into the TMJ area, usually under ultrasound guidance for precision.

✅ Is it safe?
Because PRP uses your own blood, risks of allergic reactions are low. However, you might experience temporary pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site.

Bottom line:
PRP for TMJ is a minimally invasive option that may help promote healing and reduce pain for some people with TMJ disorders
